Super-lightweight Ennis-Brown eyes bout with domestic trio

SUPER-LIGHWEIGHT Akeem Ennis-Brown has called out domestic trio Robbie Davies Jr, Lewis Ritson and Joe Hughes as he looks to move up to world honours in the not too distant future.
The 23-year-old from Gloucester is the current IBF European champion, with 13 wins from 13 bouts and has warned his rivals they can't hide forever.
Ennis-Brown, who also goes by the name of Riiddy, is back in camp after successfully coming through his first European title defence where he fought Bilal Rehman in Cardiff earlier this year.
Ennis-Brown also believes he is one of the most avoided fighters in the country, as he and his team now eye up a big-name opponent for his next matchup.
"It's frustrating for me because to get to the next stage of my career, I need the next name on my list but these guys are really avoiding me," he said.
"There are champions who shouldn't be champions but right now I have to see it as a compliment because I'm one of the most avoided fighters in boxing.
"I'm the most avoided super-lightweight but I see it as a good thing, if I've got top champions not wanting to fight me, then I must be doing something right."
Davies Jr and Hughes fought each other in March, with the former claiming a narrow and controversial points win over the Malmesbury man.
However, former lightweight Lewis Ritson has gained the attention of Ennis-Brown after the Matchroom fighter made his debut at super-lightweight late last month.
Despite how results have varied for the trio, the 23-year-old believes any of them would provide a statement of intent and the springboard he needs.
"There are a lot of things going on in the super-lightweight division at the moment and I think it is about to kick off," he added.
"There are some potentially big fights out there. I was out about a month ago so I'm back in camp now waiting for the phone call.
"I always say I'll fight anyone if it makes sense. But, the three names who have interested everyone are Robbie Davies Jr, Joe Hughes and Lewis Ritson. I want to get in the mix.
"At lightweight Lewis Ritson stormed through the British scene quickly, so it's a good fight but a lot of people are saying he's not ready for the super-lightweight division.
"I don't care if he's good at super-lightweight or not, I just want to fight him because people say he is a great fighter.
"Out of all of them, I think Ritson is top of the list. Although Robbie has the European and the British title, but Joe fits in there just because he is a rival.
"I think all of those guys are good, but they're nothing like me."
